International Masonry Institute

BAC Local #3, through the International Masonry Institute (IMI), offers several different types of training to meet the needs of BAC members and contractor training. In addition, IMI sponsors programs to recruit and develop the next generation of craftworkers and to encourage architects, designers, and builders to use masonry products installed by BAC members.

The International Masonry Institute (IMI) is a labor-management cooperative of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) and the contractors who employ its members. IMI programs are funded by contributions collectively bargained by BAC members and their contractors. These funds are used to develop and conduct apprenticeship and training programs for BAC trowel trades craftworkers, as well as safety training.

IMI operates the John J. Flynn BAC/IMI International Training Center, regional training centers, and mobile training units that deliver quality training on an as-needed basis. IMI’s team of engineers, architects and certified instructors offer design and technical assistance, and training to the unionized masonry industry.

The following courses are available on an as-needed basis.

  • Bricklaying
  • Stone Masonry

  • Terrazzo
